RETROGRADE

Hot ex-military, desperate woman, tight conspiracy…wait for the explosion!

No one seems interested in finding who killed Peyton West’s brother-in-law and put her sister in a coma. Every door gets slammed in her face. Enter Scott “Blaze” Hamilton: smart, savvy, former SEAL. Sexy as hell and determined to get answers for her. But the moment he starts poking and prodding it seems everyone wants to get rid of them. Will they survive the search for answers? And what happens to the hot sex consuming them both after that?

If you are looking for a book which is saucy and sweet in equal measure, this is definitely one to pick up. The romance here is amazing and satisfying, and the sex scenes are outrageously hot.

The characters in this story are wonderful- Peyton is a delightful heroine, going through a horrible string of events and still managing to be highly likeable. She’s sassy, tough and just a little bit vulnerable, the perfect match for Scott “Blaze” Hamilton.

Blaze is the ultimate alpha male; he’s tough, determined and absolutely committed to helping Peyton find the answers she’s looking for. He finely walks the line between tough guy and obnoxious guy, and falls down just on the right side. If you like your heroes stronger than a black coffee and as tough as hell, Blaze is going to be right up your alley. I loved him, and I think that’s one of the main reasons I enjoyed this book so much. He is the sort of swoonworthy hero who you think about long after the book is over.

The plot is rich and interesting, more than just a background for the romance, and genuinely intriguing. I love a plot-driven romance, and this definitely has plenty going for it. The pacing is tight and it’s definitely something I haven’t read before.

As mentioned, this is definitely not a book for romance lovers who don’t like a side of sauce with their love stories; this story is unapologetically hot, and wickedly well-written. That said, it never feels forced and is definitely important in helping the plot along. It’s the perfect balance.

I don’t want to give anything away, but this definitely has one of the most satisfying endings I’ve read in a book in ages, and it feels very much like it pays off. The tension between the characters is gorgeous, and it’s incredibly romantic. If this is the sort of book you like to read, you will definitely love this one. Absolutely recommended!
