It’s a crisp fall day, the sun is shining, the stadium is filled with screaming, yelling fans, and two football teams—the modern equivalent of the roman gladiators, line up to face each other and do battle. The ball is set up n the tee, the kicker sets himself, takes his three-or-four-step approach, kicks with the full force of his deliciously muscular leg and as the ball sails to the other side of the field the game is on. For me it’s an addiction that I don’t want to cure, even when the thrill of victory is dampened by the sadness of defeat.

Football fandom simply overwhelms all other sports in America, growing not just merely super, but superior, from high school right on up to this Sunday’s quasi-religious festival — which celebrates our adoration of the sport as much as the sport itself. And with the addition of a college football playoff,  the interest in football has risen to even higher heights.

So when I created a new series, for my romantic heroes I chose the gods of the field, the stars of the game that I think is so very exciting. What’s more romantic than these gladiators, right?

I was thrilled when Carly Phillips invited me to write for her Dare To Love series, built around the Miami Thunder football team. And huge huge huge thanks to every reader out there who has kept the book ins the #1 spot in Kindle World romance for one week today. Here is a taste of Daring To Chance It:

Sarah York celebrated passing the bar with a New Orleans weekend with her friend. But then everyone couple up buy her and she was left getting cozy with her drink. Until a mouthwatering god name Beau Perini, hotshot football player, swept her off her feet and into a night of unbelievable ecstasy. When she dell asleep she was already trying to figure out how they’d get together again.

Except when she woke up, Beau had done a disappearing act. And not even a thank you note, the rat.

Fast forward six years. Sarah is the newly minted In House Counsel for the Miami Thunder football tea and Beau is their golden new fret agent. Imagine her shock when she sees him at the press conference to introduce him to the Miami media.DaringToChanceIt_Amazon_DH

Beau has never stopped thinking about Sarah and regretting his hasty exit. Through a bad marriage and divorce, full custody of his three year old son and a fat new contract with the Thunder he’s never stopped thinking of her. Now he thinks Fate has given them another chance and he plans to make the most of it.

Too bad Sarah, who has trust issues, might not see it his way. But then the chemistry between them explodes again and all bets are off.

And hard on the heels of the success of this book is the release of Forward Pass, Book #1 in my Game On football romance series. I chose to focus on the players of a high school state championship tea, fifteen years after the fact.

As a Texan who didn’t grow up in Texas, it’s really something to behold: I love football, but Texas LOVES football, especially high school football, in a way that cannot be appreciated without seeing it for yourself.  Tons of people wear team gear and decorate their cars all year long.  School districts keep high schools large to make sure that football teams are competitive.  And the stadiums are nicer than those of many small colleges–hell, some are on par with large college stadiums.  Talk to anyone long enough, and if they played high school football, you’re bound to hear about it.

In the Game On series I try to bring that excitement to you:

ForwardPass2 copyShay Beckham grew up idolizing her brother’s best friend, star quarterback Joe Reilly. There was no one in their Texas town who had the moves to match Joe on or off the field. Years later, he’s still a player who has what it takes to drive any hot-blooded woman wild. But Shay isn’t a kid with a bad case of hero-worship anymore. She’s grown-up and independent, with her feet on the ground and a serious head on her shoulders. If she could just say the same for Joe.

It’s been fifteen years, but Joe Reilly hasn’t forgotten the skinny little kid who used to follow him around like a shadow. What he can’t get over is that the skinny shadow has grown into one hell of an incredible woman. One any man in his right mind would kill to get his hands on. And one who seems to be completely immune to him. He knows he and Shay could have something special together. If he could only convince her he’s about more than just the game.
