I love fairy tales. They tell mystical stories and transport you to a world where everything is touched with magic. Decadent has published some wonderful fairy tales based on stories by the Grimm Brothers and released in their Beyond Fairytales Collection. Now they have bundled them together in three books—Red, Blue, Green and (my favorite and the one I am in, of course)…gold! And they are each only 99 cents.
So what is a fairy tale? The dictionary defines it as a children’s story about magical and imaginary beings and lands. Okay, I can buy into that. When I was very young I fell in love with fairy tales, with the enchanted world they created. It was so long ago, we didn’t have Disneyland or Disney World or any of the other enchanted places we have now, so the fairy tales became the world we escaped to.
I loved the story of Rapunzel and dreaded of a handsome prince climbing up my long golden tresses to rescue me from my tower. Of course I didn’t have a tower and my hair was dark brown, short and curly. But that’s why it’s a fairy tale, right? When I became and adult (or at least thought I was!) I looked at some of my favorite stories and wonder why I thought stories like Little Red riding Hood, where the wolf wants to eat her, or Hansel and Gretel where the two kids nearly get baked in an oven or even The Three Little Pigs who are in danger of losing their house were such wonderful things to read. Now I laugh about it.
Revisioning fairy tales has become a favorite pastime, both in books and on the stage and in movies. I love seeing what others do with revised versions of old favorites. In my story for Beyond Fairytales, for example, who ever thought that two men fighting over boots would become two of he three partners in a very sexy menage? But it was fun to write and I hope to do more.
In the next two weeks, you will find posts from the authors behind the Beyond Fairytales series. We have spaceships, cowboys, owls, princesses, princes, and geese. If you like M/F, M/M, F/F, or ménage, you’ll find at least one of each. Each one is unique and indescribably naughty.
If you’ve gobbled up all of the collections already, be sure to check out the Beyond Fairytales blog for new releases and additional books.
Tomorrow, please look for posts from V.s. Morgan and Melissa Shirley.
But today, I am pleased to hand you over to the fabulous Kate Richards:

Red Book of Grown-Up Fairytales
Blue Book of Grown-Up Fairytales
Green Book of Grown-Up Fairytales
What a fabulous idea for a book series. Love them. Thanks
Thank you so much!
I’m really looking forward to reading Knocking Boots, I love fairytales in general but there’s something even more appealing to me when they are redone. I’m happy to say I took the green, gold, red, and blue pills 😀 The only problem is I want to read them all now!
Aside from getting to read redone fairytales, it’s a great way to find new authors. Thank you for gifting us with your words, there’s going to be a lot of your books on my to-be-read list <3
Joanne. You have really made my day. You are the reason we write.
:::pout::: No sample from your story! That’s no fun!
I can’t wait to read your story; it sounds like a good one!
No, sorry! *sob* We didn’t do samples of any of the stories. But I loved writing Knockin’ Boots and I hope you enjoy reading it, as well as the other stories.
Great idea for adult fairytales brilliant! 😈
